What is Become?
Become is a career and life skills personal
development program for young women. Become’s
mission and purpose is to help young women
live lives directed by choice, rather than
circumstance.

Career & College Development Skills, Self-Confidence,
Mindfulness, Skincare & Makeup, Personal
Style, Self-Expression, Etiquette
Program Costs
Become relies
on our fundraising efforts and the contributions
of time and talent from our core group of volunteers.
We encourage all interested young women to apply
or contact us for more information. Program tuition
is based on a sliding scale and includes a $100
non-refundable registration fee, all course materials
and dinners. 50% of participants will receive
full or partial, need-based scholarships in an
effort to promote diversity and equal opportunity.
What is the History of Become?
Moved
by personal experiences and the desire to create
a community of self-assured, competent, and empowered
young women inspired to pursue their dreams,
Executive Director Michele O'Hara founded Become in 2004. Michele developed
the Become program to improve access and opportunity
to high school and college-aged young women as
they face life’s transitions from school
to higher education or the workforce.
Where do participants come
from?
Become participants
come from local area public and private high
schools, colleges and youth oriented organizations
including Portland Public Schools, Vancouver,
Beaverton, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Tigard-Tualatin,
Hillsboro, Gresham-Barlow, North Clackamas, St.
Mary’s Academy, OES,
Portland Community College, PSU, Girls’ Initiative
Network, Upward Bound, Friends of the Children,
and Self-Enhancement Inc.
How does one apply to the
program?
The application
deadline for the Fall Session is August 29th,
2008. There are 3 ways
