BecomeU Course Descriptions

About BecomeU:
BecomeU is an intensive 12-week personal and professional development class for women who have a desire to explore new opportunities to enrich their lives. The program is structured to meet specific needs through goal setting, business planning, and individualized coaching.

Participants will meet with a coach individually to review their specific life goals. The coach will help them develop a plan to meet those goals, utilizing class instruction. At the end of the program, each participant will have a bound copy of their personal “brand plan” as well as a certificate of completion.

Program Format:
Classes will be split into two sessions and will meet over the course of 12 weeks. Each session consists of 6 three-hour long classes. Cost for each session is $300*.

Session 1: Living from the Inside Out
                     June 4th - June 14th
                     Celebration luncheon on Sunday June 24th
This session will focus on interpersonal awareness, goal setting, and career development. At the end of session 1, there will be a celebration luncheon to commemorate the completion of the session and the development of the participant’s personal plan. The participant will give her “I AM” speech at this luncheon. It will also be the introduction and/or orientation to session 2.

Session 2: Expressing Your Inside Out
                     July 23rd-August 27th
                     Celebration dinner on Thursday August 9th
The focus of this session is on how the interpersonal awareness gained in session 1 is expressed on the “outside.” At the end of session 2, there will be a business etiquette dinner in which the participant will give their “elevator speech.”

Session 1: Living from the Inside Out
Class 1: Self-Discovery
An introduction to the goal-setting process and the basic concept of “personal branding.” Participants will select one or two areas of focus: Relationships, Wellness & Fitness, Career, Finances, Hobbies & Social Interaction, Education

Class 2: Communication (Interpersonal)
Participants will study their own communication style, the differences between aggressive/assertive/passive communication, and conflict management.

Class 3: Communication II (Business)
A look at the differences in communication styles between management and employee, effective negotiation techniques, and inter-cultural communication.

Class 4: Self-Awareness
Participants will gain insight into their inner “voice” along with the belief systems they have about themselves and the world around them.

Class 5: Self-Confidence
Develop skills to lessen the fear of risk taking through improvisational games. Participants will learn how to say “yes” and take chances.

Class 6: Career Development
Participants will focus on their chosen career paths and explore opportunities for growth. Topics include how to make a lateral or vertical “move” and how to utilize the self-awareness tools learned in session 1 in a professional setting.

Session 2: Expressing Your Inside Out
Class 1: Goal Setting
Session 1 participants will learn how to further integrate specific goals into their personal brand on the “outside.” New participants will create specific goals for each class.

Class 2: Wellness & Fitness
An exploration of fitness, body image, and stress management. Participants will learn about proper nutrition and how to incorporate exercise into their lives on a daily basis.

Class 3: Finance
Participants will focus on their financial future. Topics covered include: lifetime savings, debt management, retirement, and mortgage information.

Class 4: Personal Style
Participants will focus on their personal style and body type, professional dress, and how to maximize their assets.

Class 5: Presentation Skills
Participants will develop and deliver a 30-second “Elevator Speech” that identifies their career path and what they could offer a potential employer.

Class 6: Business Etiquette & Networking
Participants will learn the art of networking, business etiquette, and how to “work a room.”
